My Thoughts:  I grabbed this on a whim at the checkout line at Ulta one day, and I've used it several times since.  It is a very easy to use product to get a very slight exfoliation of the skin without irritation.  It's kind of a mix between chemical and manual exfoliation in that you are using a chemical in the gel to loosen the bonds holding the dead skin cells together (chemical exfoliation) plus gentle manual exfoliation with the rubbing.

You smooth it onto dry skin and then let it sit for a few minutes.  Then, simply rub until the product has rolled up into balls and rubbed off the skin.  It sounds kind of gross, and it is a bit weird rubbing your face and feeling the skin literally coming up off into these little balls, but it doesn't scratch and irritate your skin like a scrub.

My skin feels soft and smooth after in most areas, although it's a very light exfoliation.  It doesn't do much in the way of my flaky patches on the sides of my nose when they are acting up.  Although it doesn't sting them either, which is very nice.


Final Verdict:  I think this would be an amazing product for people with sensitive skin who need a gentle exfoliation that won't irritate their skin.

My Thoughts:  These things are ridiculously easy to use, and they are very gentle even on my super sensitive skin.  I barely even feel a tingle when I use them.  It comes in a 60 count jar, so I assume that they are supposed to be a two month supply for daily use, but I only use them 2-3 times a week in place of my toner after using a cream cleanser to wash my face.  I've started using quite a few different brightening products, and I think their efficacy has been enhanced by these pads since the products can penetrate better when the pores aren't clogged by excess dead skin cells.

For those of you who aren't familiar with how lactic acid works (or any acid/chemical exfoliant), it doesn't physically scrub away dead skin cells but rather breaks down the bonds holding the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin together.  The amount of bonds broken and therefore the amount of exfoliation will depend on the strength of the acid- some are stronger than others- as well as the concentration of the acid used on the skin.  Lactic acid is one of the more mild acids and is often used as an ingredient in cleansers and moisturizers to give a gentle exfoliating effect.

Personally, since I have keratosis pilaris (more on that here) I love using lactic acid products on my skin to help keep my pores unclogged.  I use a daily lotion with it in it to keep the hair folicles on my body from becoming overgrown with excess skin cells- the result of keratosis pilaris.  I also add some powdered milk to my bath water when I soak to help dissolve the dead skin cells as well without active scrubbing.  So I'm a big fan of lactic acid being used in skincare in general.

As I've aged, I've noticed more redness around the center of my face, and harsh exfoliating products can amplify that.  These pad don't!


Final Verdict:  If you're looking for an immediate result or a deeper peel to the surface of the skin, this probably isn't the product for you.  If you'd like to add a step to your skincare routine that will help to gently keep your pores clear and the surface of your skin softer and smoother, this is an excellent option!
